Trevor smiled as he drove away from his friend’s house. It had been a positive and encouraging visit. It was still early but the authority in Rob’s voice was reassuring. His phone rang and he saw it was Andy.

‘Andy, what’s happening?’

‘I have you on speaker phone, Kendra is here with me.’

‘Hi, Dad, where are you?’

‘I’m just on my way back to your flat after visiting an old friend who will be helping us,’ he said, smiling confidently.

‘That’s good to know, because we have some news, too,’ Andy said, sounding excited.

‘Take a deep breath, Andy, and tell me slowly.’ Trevor laughed.

‘I did some digging around on the dark web for more information and there is definitely chatter about a group of Chinese gangsters coming over. I then had a thought about how they communicate here, knowing they’d need UK SIM cards to use mobile phones, so I went back to the warehouse and surrounding area and mapped the mobile phones pinging from there,’ Andy continued.

‘What did you find?’

‘There’s a hot spot in a block of flats nearby as well as the warehouse where we rescued Rick. I checked the numbers and found that the majority of them were part of a bulk order of two hundred and twenty phones and the same number of SIM cards recently purchased and delivered to the warehouse.’

‘Okay, so they have mobile phones, what is exciting about that?’ Trevor asked.

‘Well, for one, our old friend Eddie Duckmore paid for them on a credit card in his name, which is great intel. But mainly, we now have the numbers of two hundred and twenty burner phones, which we’ll be able to trace as we continue monitoring them,’ Andy continued.

‘That’s a good advantage to have, Dad,’ Kendra said.

‘Yes, it is. I’m guessing that the order was for the new arrivals, so it will be good to know where they are at all times. The friend I just visited is going to help sort our visitors out while we can focus on Duckmore and Critchley. Any update on those two?’ Trevor asked.

‘Not a lot. Duckmore is smarter than we give him credit for. Since his call with JP Sisterson, he switches his phone off when he’s not using it, so it’s almost impossible to track him. He clearly doesn’t trust the bloke now and is minimising phone use. He’s sent a couple of messages, one to JP demanding information and one to a drug dealer in North London telling him to wait for instructions about a meeting. As soon as I know more, I’ll let you know,’ Andy said.

‘Great. I think it’s time we gather the team and let them know what is going on. Can you advise them that we’ll meet with them tomorrow? You free for that, love?’

‘Yes, it’s one of my days off, so I’ll arrange it for the morning,’ she replied.

‘Great, I’ll see you in about half an hour when I get to your flat, I’ll need to pack a small overnight bag as I have to go to Dorset.
